Crew problems.

I have been having trouble trying to find people to help me film. So far I just had a friend from outside University help me with equipment, but that it. I have asked everyone in A/V and they either got something to do on wednesday, they are already in a group and they ring me if they are free but never do. I even asked people to see if they need any help from me and they said they are ok. I think I have only found one person to help me after the holidays because she hates editing but love filming, I'm the opposite, so we could make a good team. I help her with editing and she helps me with filming. Have to see after Easter Holidays.

So yeah struggling with finding helpers.

Character profiles

Jason

Age: 20

He is half way throught first year of college/university. He's studying Architecture. He’s a guy that tends to believe what he believes in, but slightly open minded to learning new things. When he was at school, he was like the class bully. But as he started college/university he has started to become more himself, but still has some of his Chav life in him. He knows that the way chavs are shown on TV in not complete true so he understands the Goth girl a bit in this film.

Amanda

Age: 20

She is also half way through first year of college/university. She’s studying Architecture. Has always been a Goth since she was 15. She has always liked the fashion and culture of Goths. Because of this it has got her in to architecture. She can be very defensive when she needs to be. She can stand her own ground. She dresses up lightly as a Goth.

Research

Research

When I was first given this project, I was very excited because I get to make my own film. At first I struggled with what story to do that I can easily get a location for. I thought more about the location then the story and that put me in a tight spot. But after talking with Jools he told me to think of the story and worry about location last, so I did. I soon came up with a story idea after watching a program on different cultures and thought what would happen if two different cultures meet somewhere. The next day I soon came up with a idea of what would happen if a Chav meet a Goth. I always wanted to do a story about two people coming to a understanding about their differences, so I started researching. After I done my research on each subject, I started my script drafts. At first I thought how they meet that is very common. That is where the bus stop became the perfect place.

After my drafts I wanted my script to look professional, and Microsoft word was not doing the job. Until I had my wsm seminar and Jools showed us a program called Celtx (www.celtx.com). It’s a program that makes your scripts look professional and organise your character information, storyboards, etc.

Once I finished my script I had to find a actor and actress. It was a lot easier then I thought it was going to be. I sent an email to the film society in Nottingham and they sent my script off to a bunch of people. The ones who were interested sent a reply back to film society and they sent me a email with their contacts on. I was running out of time before I wanted to film so I didn’t have time for auditions. I just asked for a photo and what days they were available. Only one guy was available for me at the time and that was Simon. He is free all Tuesday and Wednesday morning. But none of the girls were, so I had one week to find an actress for the Tuesday we were going to film on. My friend had found someone for me and she said she would do it.

I was all set for that Tuesday. Got equipment booked, checklist of what I needed to bring that day etc. It was Tuesday and the actress didn’t show up. I was really panicking that afternoon. I had to find someone for next day and fast so I went back home and sent a email to film society again and they sent me a email to my actress Anisa. She is only available all day Wednesday.

Re Filming

Ok tomorrow I am refilming my film and this time I know what to do, but I still couldn't find anyone to help me with the filming. I have asked everyone in AV, even people I don't really talk to and they are all busy doing their own film or got something planned. So I got no choice but to do it alone again. I have got a friend to just hold the microphone for me but thats it.

This time I am going to take my time and make sure the sound and lighting is a best as I can get it, and I am going to take more control on the scenes. Still I bit scared of screwing it up, but you learn from your mistakes.
